So, recently, I started watching a show called Greek on Netflix. Greek, as some of you might have forgotten, was an original ABC Famliy series about a couple of college kids attending the fictional (but awesome) university Cyprus Rhodes University, or CRU for short. The characters are all in sororities and frats, learning to end feuds, build relationships, and pass final exams. Before I decided to watch this show, I had just watched the Pilot episode of Blue Mountain State for the first time (and the last). You can say I was rather disappointed.... BUT, due to Netflix being convenient as hell, the suggestions underneath provided another selection of college- based TV shows and movies. My eye was drawn to the big red solo cup with people coming out of it, also known as Greek's cover. I decided to give it a shot and before I knew it I was hooked. Being an incoming high school senior, I would be lying if I said the thought of college didn't scare me. HOWEVER, after watching 6 amazing seasons of Greek, I find myself not only excited, but no longer frightened for what college might bring me. Yes some shows make things seem perfect and wonderful, but the thought that I might have to chance to rush a sorority and become a pledge is thrilling to think about...am I right? I learned from watching this show that fraternities and sororities are not just about drinking and partying, but about sisterhood and brotherhood, and having people on your side no matter what. I also learned that college is nerve racking, but you eventually get the swing of things and before you know it, the real world is calling your name. Greek is definitely my new favorite show ever, and it is definitely a show that I would recommend to all my soon- to- be senior friends. #KTT #KappaTauGamma #OmegaChiDelta #ZetaBetaZeta (You'll understand once you watch the show)

So, we all know going back to school means homework, group projects, finding loop holes around rules, finding ways to make your school uniform look not- like a mail man, and coming up with all new excuses to get out of doing your school work. Tis very exhausting to be a student now a days, huh? Well I asked myself, "what is something I actually look forward to when it comes to school?" Logically, my answer was very simple. I really like shopping for school supplies! However, with this being my Senior year (aka my last chance to shine), Office Depot and Staples are just not going to cut it. Below, are the back- to- school goodies I've picked out for myself. With these little trinkets and tools for both my desk and backpack, I know my school year will be absolutely fabulous (unlike the school lunch!). Check it Out:So, not too long ago, one of my closest friends Emma Ortiz, and her friend, Sofia Ayala, started a fashion blog on Tumblr. Let me tell you, Em's fashion sense is pristine and spot on 24/7. Her style is casual chic, and she has the power to make flannel look amazing with anything. Emma and Sofi's blog is called "Behind Clothed Doors," clever, right? They're about showing off their style and writing about fashion related topics. It's fun and fresh, and simply posh to the max. This dynamic duo is one to look out for. Who knows? Maybe they'll give Alexa Chung a run for her money? Check it Out:Everyone has seen the movie "Grease" (if you haven't, go now, it's on Netflix), and everyone has listened to Frenchy's whole-hearted advice throughout the film. One very classic quote from "Grease" is when Sandy (the main character) gets her heart broken for the very first time. Frenchy, being her BFF and what not, goes over to comfort her and says the most on point quote I have ever heard in my life. She says, "the only man a girl can depend on is her daddy." So true, am I right? Boys will break your heart, lead you on, friend zone you, etc, but your dad is always there to pick up the pieces. Sure they embarrass you in front of cute boys and your friends, but they do it because they (can be annoying) love you and always have your back. So, the next time you forget that your dad is just messing around, remember that he is the one who knows what is truly best for you (though we all seem to forget at times!). So with that said... Happy Father's Day - Exhalo TeamIf I tried to count the amount of times people have looked at my outfits with a confused expression, I would probably never stop counting! I am the type of girl who likes to wear caps indoors and sunglasses during the winter. I wear cute socks with my ballet flats and I add a touch of neon to everything. I think that I dress the way I feel (which is usually happy) and it helps others to feel the same way. I love all colors and mixing up prints and textures. I love wearing things that no one else would dare to wear, and that makes me feel special. Here I've put together a look book type thing for you guys to see what you like and what I think are the hottest trends of the summer. Skylines have taken my breath away and left me standing with my eyes glued onto the city. People speaking in different languages have rushed and hurried past me, not knowing that the words they spoke sounded like songs I wanted to understand. You could say that traveling makes a person more knowledgable, that it makes their world a bit smaller. I believe that when I am in another country and learning about the cultures and every day lives, the world becomes a size I cannot fathom to measure. I see one place and then thirst to see another. I begin to think about all the places I have not visited and a mental picture begins to form in my head. It's a globe of the Earth, and on that globe are small, shaded shapes, representing the places I have seen. I stare at the unshaded space, and wonder what lies on the surface. I wonder what type of people live there and what they eat- what they wear. Traveling is not about luxury or staying in the best 5 star hotels. The lessons you learn and the hope that you appreciate the people who share the same ground as you do- that's what traveling is about. I think becoming one with a native allows you to experience the place on a deeper level. Taste their food, try on their clothes, walk their streets. Take in the beauty of the next place you visit, because looking at pictures on Google and simply saying "I've been there" means absolutely nothing if you have not truly "been theirs."
So, my style of music is centered around a "feel good" mood. I listen to music to better my day or in search of inspiration. I can't say that focus on specific bands but if I hear a song I like it becomes one of my favorites. Lyrics are important to me because sometimes they cause me to think a different way and I appreciate that. I don't think that the type of music you listen to defines who you are, it just shows others what you're about. A person can like different types of music whether it be indie or mainstream but that doesn't automatically make them a mainstream or hipster person. My perfect music moment would be lying on a hammock on the beach with two palm trees giving me shade while all my friends are sat around me telling stories and laughing. I love listening to music that takes me to that place. My summer playlist consists of mainly folk and indie music, and songs that make me want to dance or sing or whatever. These song make me happy and I hope they make you happy also. Press the button to listen to my summer playlist below!
Recently I went to a concert in Fort Lauderdale (which is not too far from Miami) to watch (one of my favorite bands) a band called The 1975. Originally from Manchester, the band sky- rocketed when Harry Styles from One Direction tweeted about them. My cousin, being the Directioner that she is, forced me to listen to them, and I was auto(matty)cally hooked. The lead singer of the band is Matty Healy, best known for his skinny visage and rocker attitude. He has, in all honestly, become one of my biggest obsessions over the last months. His voice is dreamy yet extremely unique and the band's sound goes perfectly with it. Their love of music is transparent when you watch them perform. All of the band's members seem to transport themselves to a different place when they're on stage and play their hearts out. Matty's lyrics are smart and most of his songs hold a deeper message. This band is not into the chiché pop sound but, instead, strive to be different, but don't care what people think at the same time. Overall, I recommend listening to this band if you know what's good for you. Here are some of my favorite songs: -Heart Out |
